About this game
This is an early access version of the Godot editor running on Meta Quest devices, allowing you to create and develop 2D, 3D, and immersive XR apps and games directly on your device without the need for an external computer.
This version of the Godot editor is a hybrid app with the ability to open and switch back and forth between multiple panel (2D) and immersive (XR) windows. This is used to support the editor features described below.
The Project Manager and the main editor are rendered in the panel window just like they do on desktop and Android platforms. This allows the editor to be readily available in a home environment or overlayed into an XR experience.
Features and highlights:
This approach allows us to implement the core principle of this port, which is to provide developers with a familiar development interface and access to the full set of functions and features that Godot Editor offers on desktop and Android platforms. This includes access to asset libraries, keyboard and mouse shortcuts, GDScript code editing/highlighting/completion support, access to documentation, real-time scene editing, real-time script reload support, real-time debugging, real-time analysis, and more!
When developing an XR project, the Immersive (XR) window can be used to playtest the project directly in the device, as if it were a published app. In this mode, the editor panel can be invoked as an interactive overlay, allowing developers to iterate, debug, or analyze XR projects as they run.
Support for exporting XR project binaries will be provided through plugins.
