LightningLauncher is a launcher designed specifically for Oculus Quest that supports official and sideloaded apps and games.

It’s built with a focus on speed, reliability, and convenience.

Unlike other launchers, it opens applications as separate windows.

This allows VR applications to be opened on the latest versions of Quest OS!

You can also drag windows to slots on either side and open the launcher again for easy multitasking.

Option 1 – Express Service

Open lightning launcher

Click the settings cog in the upper right corner and select “Shortcut Services”

Click on “Lightning Launcher” in the list

Turn on the switch to enable the service

Now, when you hover your cursor over the library icon for about half a second, LightningLauncher will open. This even works in games!

This will make the default app launcher difficult to open, but not impossible. This service can be disabled in the same way as it is enabled.

Option 2 – Shortcut Icon

If Facebook Messenger is installed, uninstall it.

Install LauncherRedirect.

Find “Messenger” on the Apps screen. Select the three dots and select Pin to Universal Menu.

Now you can use the Messenger icon on the dock to open Lightning Launcher from anywhere – even in games!

– After opening once, the launcher will remain loaded in a low-priority background service

– Loading still takes 3-5 seconds on cold start, but now loads in less than 1 second once the service is active

– All app icons are now compressed and cached, so they should load faster

Starred apps and groups

– Your starred apps and groups will be moved to the front of the list for easier access

– Starring your favorite apps is a great option if you choose to hide the top bar and not use groups

Music from some websites will pause when the device is paused and must be manually resumed by reopening the page

YouTube won’t play in the background

Tidal HiFi not working (320kbps works, so does Spotify)
