About this game:
Artists or game developers who want to see what’s possible with Meta Quest Pro’s eye tracking and face tracking features can see their implementation in this app. A fantasy character representing an alien will reflect your facial movements, including smiling, blinking, eyebrows, and more.
Face tracking is encoded using a hybrid shape based on the Facial Action Coding System (FACS). You can see these blend deformations activate in the histogram shown to the left of the mirrored avatar. By observing how these blend shapes activate, you can get a good idea of how the blend shapes are combined to represent natural facial expressions.
Once the motion is detected, the designer has the option to modify the intensity of the activation to match the character’s creative intent. For example, if you have a character with a big mouth, you may not want to fully activate the mouth blend shape, as this may make the character look dangerous. Using the control slider on the right side of the app, users of this app can change the intensity of the activations to see their effect on the repositioned alien characters.
This app is an implementation of the Presence Platform Motion SDK provided by Meta and allows all developers to access eye tracking, face tracking, and body tracking capabilities. The code and asset model that underpins this application can be downloaded from https://github.com/oculus-samples/
