Version update

Hello fellow patrons!

As BaggyG hinted at yesterday’s very exciting Quake 4 update, here’s another update for JKQuest, this one bringing a number of changes, the most notable of which is the ability to control AT-STs in the Yavin Canyon level.

Now you control the AT-ST in a semi-first-person manner, with the camera positioned between the AT-ST’s legs (laughs). I tried several camera positions, and all other positions (above, inside the cabin) had issues with the camera being obscured by the model, or making aiming very difficult. These old engines weren’t written with the camera concept in mind, so in the end the best compromise was to put the camera underneath the AT-ST and have it walk above you. Aiming is done with the main hand’s controller, and you can switch between two weapon configurations (main or side guns) using the weapon selector, just like you do in Kayle’s state.

Other changes in this release are work around immersive aspects. Camera panning has been completely removed, which should make many cuts more comfortable to watch in immersive mode, the camera is still moved, but most of them are quite comfortable and you now just have to follow the action with your own head.

After downloading, unzip the compressed package to a folder on your computer.

After waiting for the prompt that the installation is complete, open your Quest all-in-one machine and start the game from unknown sources, and then click Allow to obtain storage permissions to play.

If you install it manually, download it, unzip it, and then install the APK. Then manually copy the JKXR folder to the Quest root directory, which is the /sdcard directory.
