Version update

Before we get into the patch notes, we want to address one of the ugliest bugs the community has encountered: popping out of the map when switching characters. We’ve taken a deep dive into the cause of this issue to make sure we handle it correctly.

As we all know, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue is a physics-based game. Everything from the items in the house to the players themselves are driven by physical constraints. This adds a lot of realism to the experience, but also opens the door to a myriad of issues (like this particular one) that don’t always arise in every playthrough.

In this patch, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that the chance of this happening is minimized. Additionally, we’ve introduced a system where if any player manages to leave the world at some point during the game, we can properly handle the situation.

The next patch will address this issue and more, but most importantly, it will also meet the quality standards we expect of ourselves and that you all deserve. We’re taking the time necessary to investigate, discover, and fix issues the right way so everyone can enjoy a game we’re proud of.

While we’re working to get this patch to you as quickly as possible, we wanted to give you a preview of what’s to come.

Title 2 Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue – Patch 1 Objectives

Fixed a physics issue that resulted in being kicked out of the world

Create new system to allow players to gracefully return to the game if they are evicted

Implementation of smooth steering control option

Implement a transport toggle so that it can be selectively turned off

Fixed an issue to improve teleportation so that it triggers when releasing the analog stick (especially when selecting the direction to face)

Collision improvements to hiding spots so rescue team members don’t get stuck when switching using walkie-talkies

Improved collisions within houses so that rescue teams do not get stuck on or against walls or ceilings

Fixed area where autoloading and unloading were not working properly

Grab indicator improvements to eliminate shaky reticle

Enhanced the audio system to reliably play audio when loading a save game

Fixed the main menu so it always appears to the right regardless of the headset’s orientation when the game is paused
