Bulldozers are considered essential machinery in construction and earthmoving. They are used in road construction, mining, quarrying, farms and heavy industrial plants. A bulldozer consists of a large motorized machine with a metal blade on the front that is used to bulldoze earth: soil, sand, snow, gravel or rock. They typically run on continuous tracks and provide excellent traction on most surfaces. As part of this engaging simulation, participants will operate a bulldozer and complete a variety of tasks on an active construction site.

Overview and activities:

Participants begin with an overview that provides background information and help identifying key components inside and outside the vehicle, safety tips and the basics of inspection before using any heavy machinery. Participants will engage in category matching activities to enhance their understanding of key controls and their location within the vehicle. Participants were then required to complete a task to become familiar with operating the vehicle in a VR environment. Embedded learning outcomes are designed to help participants remember, understand and apply what they have learned.

Participant simulation:

Interactive operating simulations allow participants to explore, learn and practice operating a dump truck in a safe and realistic manner. Participants must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and conduct a vehicle inspection before commencing operations.
